2nd Feb is Groundhog Day. American-celebrated, but known worldwide thanks to Bill Murray’s iconic movie.
How could we forget? I think we can all relate to some extent.
Ever feel like you’re living the same day over, and over, and Over again?
Take a moment to look back into your past, and then now, look at yourself. What’s your position in life currently? Emotionally, Physically and in any area that is of value to you.
Another question I like to ask is:
Were you in exactly the same place 3 months ago, 6months ago, 1 year ago, 4 years ago?
And...
Do you consider this a good thing? Depends on whether you have optimised every aspect of your life, depends on what ails you.
Autopilot is easy to fall into. I consider it a trap.
I despise traps, especially the ones that tend to creep up on you like a happy little frog being boiled alive slowly. You don’t even notice the heat rising, until it’s too late.
Then, you wished you did something different a while ago, or just in time at the very least.
I’ve been there many times before.
Anyone who knows me well, also knows, that I love analogies. My mind works that way, always has. Tending to see life as a series of stories, of experiences woven into one giant colourful tapestry.
I believe, the challenge and life duty we are faced with as humans is this:
to truly see what this giant tapestry of our life is reflecting back at us, about our behaviour, our existence, our patterns, and the environment we choose to surround ourselves with.
Interestingly, if you look closely enough, you will find your life is telling you something, and possibly, many things, and perhaps even a common Theme that simply doesn’t go away because it’s desperately trying to get your attention.
What is the Theme of YOUR life?
What are the Patterns of your existence?
What have you been weaving into your world on autopilot?
And…
is this OKAY WITH YOU?
Is this what you always wished for, for your life?
If not, why not?
And better still … what have you done to seriously change it?
To break-free from your very own Groundhog day hell?
One thing I’m always asked, when people call me for tinnitus help is this...
1. What if this doesn’t work for me?
GREAT QUESTION.
I am honoured to answer it every single time.
My response is always and will forever be this:
“What if you DON’T do anything NOW? What then?!
Forget the fear of failure. At least you have a significant chance of success. The actual risk is if you don’t do anything, What will your life look like 6 months from now? 2 years from now? 5 years from now?
And, are you prepared to live like this indefinitely? That is YOUR choice, within YOUR power. The choice of ACTION, instead of inaction. The first step to a better outcome, is entirely up to you.”
And I truly believe this with every cell in my body.
The way I see it is this:
You can have literally the best help for anything in life, staring at you in the face, right infront of you, reaching out a hand, but ultimately YOU decide whether to take it, or to leave it.
You decide whether to step into a New day or relive Groundhog day.
That is the choice before you. And it's a game-changer, a potential life-changer.
I'll continue this excerpt tomorrow with why I'm so passionate about this topic, why I breathe it, why I teach it.
Until then, moral of the story is: autopilot never serves you, it imprisons you.
Happy Groundhog Day [but may your tomorrow be positively different from today]
Marie-Chantal.
